St Thomas

SY7 9JG     Open

This simple little church is the Parish Church for the town of Craven Arms. The town has no ancient church of its own, being fairly modern.

St Thomas's dates from before the Norman conquest, about 1050. The most notable Norman feature is the south doorway, round headed with a 'crocus' moulding above. There is also a small Norman window to the west of the door, and the simple tub font is also Norman, with a modern base.

The church was restored in 1848 and 1887 and consists of a nave and chancel and a 19th century porch. There is a western double bell-cote housing two bells.

The church belongs to the Craven Arms Parishes benefice. More details on 'A Church Near You'.
